Keeping a tidy home doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Instead of trying to clean the entire house in one go, we follow a room-by-room cleaning schedule that keeps our space organized and manageable. This method helps us stay on top of household chores without feeling like we’re constantly cleaning.
In our home, each room gets its own dedicated cleaning day. Some areas need more attention than others, but by sticking to this routine, we prevent mess from piling up and keep things running smoothly. Here’s how we do it!

How Our Family Shares Cleaning Responsibilities
🧹 Juli helps with occasional cleaning, but I often go over things again to make sure they’re done properly.
🛋️ The boys don’t do much, but I’m working on encouraging them to pitch in.
🎉 Fearne loves tidying up because she sees it as a fun activity.
We’ve learned that making cleaning simple and routine-based helps everyone contribute—even if it’s just small tasks like putting away their own things or wiping down surfaces.
Tips for Making Cleaning a Shared Responsibility
🔹 Use checklists – Having a set list of tasks makes it easier for everyone to help.
🔹 Make it fun – Play music, set a timer, or turn cleaning into a game.
🔹 Set expectations – Assign simple, age-appropriate tasks to kids.
🔹 Lead by example – When others see you maintaining the home, they’re more likely to follow suit.
Why This Method Works
✅ Less stress – No more trying to clean the whole house in one day.
✅ Prevents big messes – Small daily tasks keep everything manageable.
✅ Encourages teamwork – Even small contributions make a big difference.
✅ Creates a relaxing home environment – A tidy home leads to a clear mind.
By breaking housework into bite-sized tasks, we keep our home clean without the burnout.
